FRESH LOCAL FARMS

FRESH AS F!

FRESH AS FARMED was built to help Ontarians connect with local farmers that offer fresh food directly from their land or through their local farmers market. The idea developed out of frustration with the selection, quality, and price ($3.29/Ea for non-organic cucumbers - WTF!) of goods offered through big-box grocery chains. Why pay more for convenience and store atmosphere at big-box stores when the "fresh" options they offer are limited, low-quality and lose their freshness in a day or two.

Did you know that there are hundreds of local farmers that offer their freshly harvested products directly from their farm to your family? Not many people do. These farmers use CSA's, box pickup/delivery programs, on-site stores and local farmers' markets to sell their products. Buying directly from these farmers means that you are getting fresh, high-quality food products and your money is going directly into the local economy (instead of a big-box grocer CEO's wallet). Until recently, these farmers have been difficult to find; Fresh As Farmed aims to solve that problem.

A Better Directory For Local Farms

Have you ever tried searching for local farms in your area that sell directly to consumers? If you have, you've likely stumbled upon a few of the directories that list members of the food and agriculture industry. While the information offered in these directories are robust, they can be difficult to navigate, they rarely sort by location, and they do not identify which farmers sell directly to consumers. Unlike other directories, Fresh As Farmed provides an interactive map where visitors can quickly search for local farmers by category (produce, meat, organic, etc.), distance and eventually selling methods.

Our Team

Fresh As Farmed is maintained and operated by a small team of web designers and food enthusiasts during our down-time - often late in the evening. We know that our team size and creative skill limit our ability to provide a seamless experience to our users. As such, we are always open to suggestions on how we can improve Fresh As Farmed. If you have an idea, we would love to hear it!
